One persistent myth claims Palestine was a land without a people, suggesting emptiness before Zionist colonization. In reality, it was home to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians living in villages, farms, and cities since ancient times. This slogan was and still is colonial propaganda meant to erase indigenous Palestinians and justify continued occupation and ethnic cleansing. Another myth says Zionists made the desert bloom.

But Palestine, part of the Fertile Crescent, was already agriculturally rich, with olives, citrus, grains, and Bedouin farming in the Naqab region. Much of early colonialist agriculture came from land stolen during the 1940s ethnic cleansing event known as the Nakba, not miraculous transformation. Finally, it's claimed Palestinians fled voluntarily in the 1940s.

Declassified records show the opposite. Over 810,000 Palestinians were expelled or fled massacres like Deir Yassin and al-Lydd.

No evidence supports Arab orders to evacuate. Leaders urge people to stay.

These myths conceal the truth. Zionism was, and remains, a genocidal, settler colonial project that ethnically cleansed indigenous Palestinians through force.
